an interview with German newspaper "Welt
Online" Howard Stringer, CEO of Sony speaks about the future of Sony but
also about a possible future of Sony Ericsson and this future might not as
bright as the past was. When Sony and Ericsson merged as Sony Ericsson, Sony
brought its design and media competence into the new venture while Ericsson
brought is technical know-how and both together created some exciting phones,
except the not so successful Symbian-based UIQ smartphone line. Anyway, it looks
like Howard Strigner isn't happy with the current situation of Sony Ericsson and
while he haven't mentioned to either leave the joint venture or to take it over,
the interview shows that he's thinking about Sony Ericsson...

Documents To Go Now Available for Windows Mobiles with Touch Screens - pocketpccity.com

DataViz finally delivers popular - and long running - Microsoft Office compatible software suite to one of the world's most popular smartphones platforms.

HTC Dream Skinny Compared to iPhone? - pocketpcthoughts.com

"Attempts to keep the most hotly anticipated consumer electronics devices under wraps these days are getting more and more futile. It's hard enough for companies to control disgruntled employees and leaks in the international supply chain, stir in a giant government organization and things quickly unravel. Case in point: T-Mobile's HTC Dream, widely believed to be the world's first Android handset. After Engadget loosed the Dream from its FCC constraints on the 18th of August, HTC contacted the agency on the 19th with a request to use a less detailed diagram for the FCC label placement. Fortunately for us they complied, giving us what can only be construed as official measurements in the process. The newly unveiled 115 x 55-mm dimensions te...

Get Answers via ChaCha; Live Search Mobile Update; Downloading Software - pocketpcmag.com

I’m surprised I haven’t yet mentioned ChaCha, a free, human-powered service that lets you ask any question and sends you an answer via text message. It's one of those games that makes me wish I had an Amiga back in the day. (I still remember that trip I made to Warren Radio in Peoria, IL back in the 80s and they just happened to have an Amiga on display. It almost seemed like a magical experience. Where have all the good times gone?)

They have all generally used the standard qwerty layout that would be found on a hardware keyboard. Fitaly throws you for a loop because it uses a non-querty layout, and incidently the name is derived from the arrangement of letters on the keyboard (just like querty). The fitaly layout was designed in the nineties for pencomputers, when Jean Ichbiah thought that writing with a stylus required a different type of keyboard.

this week

we reported about the dispute between SiRF and Broadcom and SiRF Technology
Holdings, Inc. responds tonight to earlier speculations, that its products might
be banned from the U.S. According to this information, SiRF and the ITC staff
have independently filed appeals with the International Trade Commission (ITC)
for review of the ITC Administrative Law Judge's (ALJ) initial ruling that
certain SiRF products infringed upon patents held by Global Locate, Inc., a
wholly-owned subsidiary of Broadcom. In addition, SiRF has taken measures to
reassure its customers of multiple alternatives to address this initial ruling
to enable SiRF customers to continue shipping their innovative products into the
US market.

Files are created by our digital cameras, e-mail, cell phones, portable media players, camcorders, PDAs, and laptops. Increasingly, computer users are using different folders, drives, and even different computers (such as a laptop and a desktop) to store, manage, retrieve and view files. Yet managing hundreds or thousands of files is still largely a manual operation. In some cases it is necessary to regularly get copies of files from another location to add to primary location; in other cases there is a need to keep two storage locations exactly in sync. XDA-Devs forum member Wolfman-XP (the same guy that has also developed AVRCP support for GSPlayer) has fixed this: he has released a plug-in that remembers the last position where you press(ed) the Pause button.
